Has anyone went to the center for massage and natural health in Asheville, NC?

Im thinking about signing up for this school but i want to make sure its accredited for first. I would like to talk to somebody who has actually attended there before.

Good Morning.

Yes, the Center for Massage & Natural Health is accredited by COMTA (Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation), the toughest accreditation a massage school can achieve, and we are also approved by the U.S. Department of Education to offer Federal Financial Aid.

We have approximately 800 students. You will find hundreds of testimonials on our Massage School page (click the tab on the bottom) http://www.centerformassage.com/massage-school.html , or look for us on FaceBook. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Asheville-NC/Center-for-Massage-Natural-Health/60815835812?ref=ts I just started that page a few weeks ago, and we already have over 500 fans, many of whom are graduates. By law, I am not permitted to release contact information of our graduates, but there are many out there.

Thank you for considering my school. I would be honored if you chose us.

Many blessings,
Peggy

what can i pursue to obtain a bachelors or masters degree in something of that nature?

If I were you, I'd transfer to a 4 year and earn a B.S in Biology. Then, when you do your M.S, you'll be able to focus your research on natural health. Bachelor's degrees are often very well rounded, and Master's specific.

Does anyone know a GOOD natural health doctor in Tampa, Florida?

I've been experiencing a lot of stress related problems over the last year or so and it's starting to get a little out of control. I'm looking to balance my health through holistic medicine.

I've been having MASS amounts of hair loss, stomach problems, heightened sensitivity to noise and sounds, sleeplessness, restlessness, INTENSE jaw pain, eye twitches…it's all getting worse and worse, I really need professional help.

Terms like "holistic medicine" are used by quacks to disguise the fact that they are quacks. You would be better off flushing your money down a toilet. See a real doctor instead, it will do a lot more good in the long run.

Arthritis Pain - Hot Tips To Help You Get Rid Of It Forever

I got rid of my arthritis and arthritis pain forever by doing one single thing - read on. Getting rid of my arthritis pain, without drugs, was one of the best things that's ever happened to me.

Arthritis pain can be experienced whenever a stiff or swollen joint is used. The pain in arthritis can be moderate to severe. Arthritic joints appear to be larger, are stiff and painful, and usually feel worse the more they are used as the day progresses.

Cartilage contains a high percentage of water, but it decreases with age. It's important to learn plenty of facts about joints and arthritis to help you understand how to treat arthritis better. Cartilage contains chondrocytes, water, proteoglycans and collagen; chondrocytes are the basic cartilage cells and are necessary for balance and function.

As chondrocytes (the cells that make up cartilage) age, they lose their ability to make repairs and produce more cartilage; this process may play an important role in the development and progression of osteoarthritis. Injuries sometimes can be the start in the arthritic disease process; osteoarthritis can develop years later even after a single traumatic injury to a joint or near a joint.

An inflammatory response causes cytokines, to gather in injured areas and cause inflammation and damage to body tissue and cells; it's known to play a role in rheumatoid arthritis and other muscle and joint problems associated with autoimmune diseases.

For snacks, choose raw nuts without salt instead of lifeless roasted nuts. A study in Great Britain touted the beneficial effects of cod liver oil on osteoarthritis; relieving pain and stiffness, and reversing the destruction of joint cartilage within 24 hours. Not a food, but many, including one well-known professional golfer, still wear copper bracelets and swear by them.

Many arthritis sufferers have changed their diets and noticed significant or total improvement. Nutrition experts say it takes a combination of supplements, that no one supplement can relieve arthritis pain, build cartilage, etc. Studies done on antioxidant vitamins question the value of these supplements; it's clearly better to consume these antioxidants in living foods because they may also need to work with other nutrients present in the foods to work properly.

I know quite a few people who are drinking tart cherry juice to relieve their arthritis pain; has to the tart kind though. If you're not already doing so, make a big effort to watch your diet. One natural approach is to consume foods that are known to help relieve arthritis pain or prevent arthritis. For natural treatment for arthritis make an appointment with a naturopathic doctor, called a naturopath; ask around for referrals.

Use Taiji health balls, with the chimes, to strengthen the finger joints: hold two balls, move in a clockwise circle with your fingers to rotate them, then try counterclockwise and do throughout the day. To be on the safe side always seek your doctor's advice before starting or changing your exercise program. Important exercises for arthritis are range-of-motion exercises, isometrics, and some weight bearing exercises. Try to keep painful joint areas in motion, even in a limited manner.

Sign up for water aerobics classes at your local community center. Exercise your affected joints every day, to keep them flexible. Even the lightest exercise can go a long way to maintaining your joint mobility and overall health.

Conventional doctors may suggest the standard protocol for your joint pain; they tell you to take over-the-counter NSAIDS or prescribe COX-2 inhibitors, of which all have side effects. Be aware that the use of NSAIDs or Cox-2 inhibitors do not halt the progress of osteoarthritis and may even hasten the onset. For conventional treatment of arthritis - if you do choose to take drugs or medications, be very careful and read the labels thoroughly.

Arthritis pain relief is the ultimate goal - understanding arthritis is a good way to get there. I got rid of my arthritis pain years ago when I stopped eating dead food and changed my diet to all living foods; you can do it too. Begin your treatment program with a diet change, exercise and weight loss plan to see results and pain relief fast.

Useful Tips on Caring for your New Cat or Kitten

Owning a cat takes a little work but gives back a whole lot of pleasure in return. Here are some ideas on how to make your new kitty feel at home, while giving you peace of mind. It is a transition to own a new pet, so take it step by step and don't be afraid.

If you have a small kitten, make sure to handle it a lot, gently showing it that you are someone it can trust. Put a ticking clock in where its bed is, the soothing sound mimics the mother cat's heartbeat. If you are keeping the kitty in a separate room until it's ready to acclimate to the household, make sure it has a soft pillow or cat bed to sleep in. A few toys are appreciated, too. Some great free toys are things like a cotton swab tied to a string and hung from a doorknob (supervise play with this item)or a milk jug ring (that plastic ring around the cap). At the pet store, buy super balls, a laser pointer and catnip mice then sit back and watch the show as kitty wears himself out, being a spring-loaded, furry ballet dancer, leaping in the air as he chases his "prey". Find toys that are lightweight and throw them around a little, to show the kitty how to play. Kittens learn by watching their mothers, so they will also learn by watching their adopted human parent.

Establish an area for the cat's litter box in a well ventilated, quiet place. Then, show the kitty where it is, taking your hand and play scratching the litter to show him it's ok for him to use it. Again, cats learn from watching, and especially kittens need a little guidance sometimes. If the kitty relieves itself outside the box, don't punish it, just put it into its cat box immediately. Show no anger, as this will scare the cat and make them fear you. Fear isn't a good teacher, calm praise and encouragement is what you want. Make sure to address the problem as it happens for best results since cats have short memory spans and won't correllate the accident with the cat box unless you quickly link the two together with corrective action (putting kitty in the box).

All my life, I have given my cats both wet and dry food. Ask your vet the proper amount to feed your cat, but make sure to get quality food that they like, not just anything cheap you see at the store. If you feed your cat quality food, they have a better chance of steering clear of health problems later. My vet told me that male cats can get crystals in their urinary tracts, which are painful and expensive to remove. To avoid that, don't give kitty food with high magnesium in it. Read the ingredient labels. Having male cats myself, I avoid fish products and give them turkey, chicken or beef flavored canned foods. The ones with rice in them are good, too. Just like humans, vary the flavors of food you feed your cat somewhat. I buy a case of canned food and feed mine one can every day at the same time.

Save money on pet medicines by buying them online. You can take the kitty to the vet when he's sick and buy the medicine there, but if it isn't an emergency then by all means, research to find lower prices on pet meds like flea or parasite killing aids. My cat had tapeworms (they look like rice in the cats stool) so I found out what medicine the vet uses and located it on an internet pet store site. The medicine would've cost me over $30 if I'd bought it through the vet, but I got the exact, same kind for $15 online. It pays to research the safety of the medicine vets recommend, and make sure to follow the dosage instructions very carefully. Don't dose your pet higher than listed in the instructions and don't use dog medicines on cats unless the vet says it is ok to do so. Cats groom themselves, and if you use a topical medicine on a cat that is meant for a dog, it could potentially poison him when he cleans himself. It is better to be safe than sorry. Also, never give human medicine to pets, cats have different systems than we do. Don't gamble on the life of your precious pet.

When it comes to the question of whether or not to let your cat outside or not, it is a proven fact that indoor cats live longer lives than those who are permitted to go out. This is because there are a vast amount of dangers and illnesses outside that a free-roaming cat may encounter. Cars, cat-hating neighbors, dogs, diseases from other peoples' pets, and of course, fleas top the list of hazards. We had cats as I grew up, all of whom went outdoors, and one by one, they died from things like leukemia, poisoning from a neighbor, hit by cars (we lost a few cats to cars), and one was trapped and came back with a mangled leg, that needed to be amputated. We lived on a peaceful, upscale street and still, all this happened. I cannot emphasize more strongly, indoor cats do live longer. As an adult, my cats have been indoors, and they have lived to 21 or more years old. Just get your indoor kitty a cat tree (kitty condo) or a scratching post and put it near the window so that he can bird-watch.

Protect your cat when you have guests over who are either rough with, or dislike cats. Put kitty in another room if you don't want him manhandled by very young children, for example. If you have young children, make sure to show them very carefully and thoroughly to be gentle and kind to pets. Well-meaning kids may break a cat's leg by picking it up wrong (one of my cats was a rescue who had this happen to him) so it pays to supervise your small child's interaction with a new pet. This is for the protection of the child as well, as rough handling a cat can cause it to scratch! Cats are loving, but they must be treated with kindness, or their natural instinct is to protect themselves.

If you are going to be gone for a week or so, make sure you have a pet sitter or friend look in on your cat while you're away. Put down a large amount of dry food and water for the cat, but make sure someone checks to make sure it hasn't run out. My local pet sitters cost me $15 per day, a small price to pay for peace of mind when I'm away from my furry friends.

Having a pet is a committment and priveledge. Remember, your pet is going to be with you through thick and thin, so be there for him in sickness or health. Give them the same chance at having a happy and full life that you yourself deserve by giving him a forever home. If for any reason you are forced to part with a pet due to unforseen problems, be responsible about finding your pet a good home. Do for your pet what you would do for yourself. There are few circumstances that would warrant giving up a pet, so I advise you to keep your committment, no matter what. I live in a hurricane evacuation zone, and if I have to evacuate, my pets have a large pet cage in the car to be in, with a fan, so we can be together. If you are in a hurricane zone, preplan disasters by arming yourself with a foldable cage for the back of your car, a jug of water and food if you evacuate. Don't ever leave your pet behind, because he may not be there when you come back. I had my three cats microchipped, in case somehow they got physically separated from me, they would be able to come home to me. Microchips carry the address of the owner, and authorities check strays to see if they have them so they are great investments.

Owning a pet teaches patience and responsibility. In return, you will be paid by unconditional love and acceptance. If you have any questions on cat care, contact your local chapter of the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or your vet, and they usually will help you over the phone. In time, you and your pet will be more comfortable with one another. Until then, just take it slow, remember to be gentle and supportive, and you will have a special friend for life.

Hints and Tips for Reducing Stress in your Life

How many times have you heard yourself say 'I am stressed out!'? If you are anything like the friends and family that I know, then probably many times a week if not in a day. Completely eradicating stress from your like is impossible. But there is no need to feel as though you will burst at any moment because the weight of the world is on your shoulders. One must learn how to manage stress rather than ignore or handle it in a destructive manner. If we don't deal with our daily stress it affects many areas in our life.

Unmanaged stress is known to raise blood pressure and cause heartburn. More serious ailments include increased potential of heat disease, cancer and depression. It's amazing what having too much on your plate can do! For many of us, altering our schedules or canceling appointments are not options. However that is no excuse to let your stress levels go uncontrolled.

If you are finding yourself unnecessarily irritable or more tired than usual, that is your body's way of sending you a signal to alter your activities. The following tips will help you better manage your stress and increase your daily productivity.

1. You must get sleep! It has been proven time and time again that everyone must make time for at least 7 hours of sleep each night. Trying to get extra hours on the weekend does not work. If the body is deprived of sleep there is no way to make up that time. Sleep deprivation not only leaves you unable to manage stress as well as you would otherwise, you are vulnerable to many other health problems. Research has proven that lack of sleep leads to increased weight gain, memory loss, high blood pressure and increased susceptibility to type-2 diabetes. The list of health problems alone should be enough to encourage one to get their beauty sleep!

2. Meditate Daily. For those of you unfamiliar with mediation, it need not be intimidating or 'out there.' Meditation is simply the practice of relaxation. There are different forms of meditation and many guide books available that may be helpful for the new comer. In a nutshell, meditation allows the body to relax through mindful concentration. Allow your mind to focus on peace and calm for about 20 minutes each morning and evening. This will allow your body to relax for a concentrated period of time and the act of the body relaxing allows it to 'de-stress.'

3. Limit Caffeine. Along with caffeine, feel free to keep your sugar intake to a minimum as well. That shakiness and racing heartbeat is not a good thing. Once again the body is sending you a warning signal that something is amiss. Caffeine and foods high in sugar put the body in a constant state of high energy. This is part of the attraction, no? But the effects on the body are not positive. Synthetic 'highs' have repercussions and one of them is leaving your body depleted of its natural energy sources. The caffeine and sugar high lead ultimately to low energy and decreased ability to handle stress.

4. Fruits and Vegetables are your friends. Keeping your body fueled with the nutrients it needs to function at its best, will do nothing but reward you. Fruits and vegetables are naturally filled with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that not only fuel the body, but help it to function with stress. When we get busy, it can be difficult to take the time to make a well-balanced meal, but that is when our body needs it the most. The busier our lives become the more we need to nourish it. So eat your green veggies and make mom proud!

5. Don't take life so seriously. Allow yourself to laugh. This is one of the simplest things that you can do to calm yourself down and relieve stress. It's easy to takes things too seriously when we are stressed, so take the time to analyze a situation before letting it get to you.

Obviously, there are other ways to reduce your stress than the above list. But by having a few ideas to start with never hurt anyone. The quicker you implement stress-reducing activities into your life, the sooner you will notice beneficial results. Not only will your life lengthen, it will be more enjoyable. Take care of yourself and your body will thank you.

Pregnancy Health : Maintaining Yourself

Pregnancy brings in joy with the ever-increasing waistline, pains and aches. The body undergoes a tremendous change due to shifting of hormones. The skin changes, there are stretch marks and dark patches on the facial skin. Weight gain results in sleeping troubles, poor digestion, frequent urination, constipation etc. These are just a few symptoms of pregnancy. Since these changes take place gradually, one starts adjusting to them in anticipation of the joy it will bring after nine months. It is very important to maintain the pregnancy health and go through the process with a relaxed and happy state of mind.

Maintaining Pregnancy Health

With the onset of early signs of pregnancy, prepare yourself for the new changes in your life. Stay happy and comfortable. Consult your doctor for any problems and adjust your lifestyle to surmount the initial irritating body changes with more rest and relaxation. Follow a few tips for better pregnancy health.

Tender breasts: Wear a soft, comfortable maternity or nursing bra with extra support. Apply heavy moisturizing cream to cracked nipples after washing with water only.

Dizziness: Expanding uterus puts pressure on blood vessels, plus the nausea and vomiting can make one feel dizzy or light headed. To overcome this problem, maintain pregnancy health with frequent but small meals. Avoid standing or sitting in one position for long, lay down on your left side to relax, stand up slowly and do not let your body get over heated.

Hemorrhoids: They too are caused due to increasing pressure on the rectal veins and constipation. To prevent hemorrhoids drink lots of fluids, take fiber rich food and do not strain the bowel while evacuating.

Leg cramps: As the body weight increases and change in metabolization takes place, the pressure on legs and feet increases. Eat low-fat calcium rich food, go for short walks, stretch and flex leg and foot muscles, use heating pads to ease the leg cramps.

Swelling: A significant weight gain during pregnancy can result in swelling and puffiness. It could be a sign of high blood pressure or toxemia, consult the doctor immediately. To avoid swelling and to maintain a good pregnancy health, avoid salty foods and caffeine. Rest with your feet elevated and drink at least eight glasses of water to keep your body hydrated.

Teeth and gum problems: Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth regularly; avoid eating sweets and take high calcium diet. Oral bacteria due to gum disease can harm the fetus and result in either low-birth weight baby or premature delivery.

Similarly take all natural preventive measures to combat the various other changes in the body due to the pregnancy. Feel free to call your doctor in an event of vaginal discharge, bleeding, fever or chills, pain in abdomen or any abnormal discomfort. Good pregnancy health results in a happier you and healthier baby.

Tips For Women Best Skin Care Practice

Why do women put on themselves so much skincare products? They do it primarily to combat the signs of aging, and to maintain youthful looks and beautiful skin! For women wanting to look their best, here are some tips for women best skin care products.

Most women did not put much thought into what is in the products that they are using.

Dr. Myron Wentz, founder and chairperson of USANA Health Sciences, has this to say about beauty in the company magazine's June/July 2005 issue: "Some say that beauty is only skin deep. Nonsense! I believe that true beauty is a reflection of true health, and true health begins deep inside each and every cell in the body. But true health and true beauty have an outer component, which is why we require protection from environmental insults such as solar radiation, pollutants in our
environment and the drying effects of air. . . And your skin can't be healthy if your are subjecting it to toxic substances that are ultimately absorbed into your body."

So, what can women do? How can they combat environmental pollutants, the affect of solar radiation, and the drying effects of air? How can they be sure they are using the very best products on their skin so they can be healthy inside and out? Here are some tips to help you:-

Use products that have regenisomes. Regenisomes penetrate the skin to speed cell renewal after sun exposure. They also use the light of photosomes to undo sun damage, and have ultrasomes to renew skin while sleeping.

Be very aware of what is in skincare products. Use products that are all natural as much as possible.

Look for products that contain Dermal Surface Renewal Technology. DSR smoothes away existing signs of aging such as laugh lines, crows feet, and dullness.

If possible, use products that are paraben free. Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives that are widely used in personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, make-up, facial masks, skin lotions and creams, and deodorants. They also are typically ingredients in baby lotions, shampoos, and other personal care products for infants and children.

In addition, parabens are in many foods and pharmaceutical products. Researchers are beginning to find parabens in benign and malignant human breast tumors. While some studies have challenged their toxicity in many products and question their long term affect on humans, using products that are paraben free can eliminate the risk of exposure to this harmful chemical.

Limit stress or learn to manage it effectively. Stress is harmful both emotionally and physically. Find that stress reliever activity that works best and use it on a daily basis!

Drink plenty of water! Water hydrates skin and hair as well as flushes toxins out of the body. I cannot emphasize this enough!

If you follow these tips, soon you will be enjoying beautiful and glowing skin.
