Intensive Treatments For That Life Threatening Gum Infection
Forty percent of the world's adult population are affected mainly by periodontitis, known as a common inflammatory disease of the gums. It refers to the gum infection caused by bacteria that greatly impacts the tissues that supports the teeth in the mouth. When this condition is left without appropriate treatment, the disease can cause bone loss that is progressive and eventual loss of teeth. Scientific evidences are already established stating the link of gum disease to arterial changes that underlie stroke and heart attack. It is through intensive treatments involving the removal of plaque and tartar with the procedure called scaling and root planing, as well as tooth extraction when teeth could not be saved that periodontal health and overall health can be regained.
