Necessity Of Surgical Procedures For Severe Gum Infection

For dental patients who have lost so much bone and presents a generalized condition of 7mm or greater pocket depths are oftentimes treated with four quadrants of root planing at the general dentist's office just like with patients who have moderate gum infection or moderate periodontal disease. On the otherhand, this condition is not generally and not sufficiently halted by root planing alone. Having these severity of gum disease, these dental patient's are often referred to a gum specialist or periodontist for follow up surgical treatments or procedures. These patients are required to see their periodontist twice a year and see their general dentist at least twice a year as well for periodontal maintenance and other certain treatments.
