Tobacco Users Can Have Receding Gums And Become Toothless!
Smokers are in danger of loosing more teeth compared to people who do not smoke. Smoking can make periodontal disease treatment useless. That is why smokers should kick the bad habit before the start of the treatment. It is not just cigarettes but other tobacco products can cause harm to gum health. Smokeless tobacco can also cause receding gums and greatly increase the chance of tooth loss. While pipe smokers do experience tooth loss similar to people who smoke cigarettes. There are also other problems that are found to occur in people who are using tobacco products which includes: bad breath, stained teeth, oral cancer, tooth loss, bone loss, loss of taste, less success of periodontal treatments, unsuccessful dental implants, mouth sores, receding gums and wrinkling of the face.
