Vitamin C Enhances Immune System In Fighting Gum Infection
Gum disease and vitamin C deficiency has shown to have a strong link. Dental researchers shown that people with low intake of vitamin C are at high risk fro developing gum infection or gum disease.
Vitamin C is believed to help gum disease because vitamin C is an antioxidant and is needed to repair connective tissue and accelerate bone regeneration. Because vitamin C promotes the formation of healthy new gum tissue it is considered vital for healthy gums. The risk of serious gum disease can be reduced by the intake of vitamin C as it helps enhance the immune system and helps in the repair and growth of the tissues. You can also eat foods that re rich in vitamin C such as oranges, mango, papaya, grapefruit, strawberry, broccoli, and cantaloupe. However, chewable vitamin C should be avoided because its acidity may promote tooth erosion.
